Need to review a record of calls made or received on your Verizon Wireless line? Whether for personal record-keeping, business expense tracking, or simply identifying an unfamiliar number, accessing your verizon call log is possible through several methods provided by the carrier. Here’s how you can view your call activity.

How to Access Your Verizon Call Log

Verizon offers different ways to see your call history, varying in the level of detail and the time frame covered:

My Verizon Website (Most Detailed Online Access)

This is typically the best place to find detailed call logs for recent activity.

  1. Log In: Visit the official Verizon website and sign into your My Verizon account.
  2. Navigate to Usage Details: Look for main menu options like “Usage,” “My Usage,” or “Account Activity.” You may need to select the specific line you want to review if you have a multi-line account.
  3. View Call Log: Within the usage details, find the section for “Talk,” “Voice,” or “Minutes.” This area should display your recent verizon call log, usually showing calls for the current billing cycle and detailed logs for recent past cycles (often up to 90 days).

My Verizon App

The mobile app provides convenient access, though often with slightly less historical detail than the website:

  1. Log In: Open the My Verizon app on your iOS or Android device.
  2. Find Usage: Tap the “Account” tab and look for the “Usage” section.
  3. Check Call Activity: Select the relevant phone line. You can view summaries of minute usage for the current cycle and recent past cycles (e.g., last 90 days or 3 billing periods). Accessing the full, detailed call-by-call log might be more limited here compared to the website, but summaries are readily available.

PDF Bill Statements (Long-Term History)

Your monthly Verizon bill serves as an official record of usage for that billing period.

  1. Access Bills Online: Log into the My Verizon website or app and go to the “Billing” section.
  2. Download PDFs: You can view and download PDF copies of your past bills, typically available online for at least 18 months.
  3. Find Call Details: Within the detailed section of the PDF bill, you will find the call log for that specific billing cycle, listing calls made and received. For records older than 18 months, you may need to contact Verizon Customer Service to request bill reprints, which might involve a fee.

Your Smartphone’s Call Log

Don’t forget the call log built directly into your phone’s “Phone” or “Recents” app.

  • Recent Activity: This shows your most recent incoming, outgoing, and missed calls directly on your device.
  • Limitations: This log is managed by your phone’s operating system, is separate from Verizon’s official records, and usually doesn’t store history as far back as My Verizon bill statements. It also doesn’t differentiate cellular vs. Wi-Fi calling in the same way Verizon’s billing system does.

What Your Verizon Call Log Shows (and Doesn’t Show)

Understanding the information contained in the official verizon call log (viewed via My Verizon or bills) is important:

What IS Included:

  • Date and Time of the call.
  • Phone Number called or received from.
  • Direction (Incoming/Outgoing).
  • Duration of the connected call (in minutes).
  • General Location information (sometimes).

What IS NOT Included:

  • Call Content: Verizon does not record the audio of your calls. The log is purely metadata.
  • Names: Caller ID names are generally not stored in the detailed log (unless perhaps for calls between lines on the same Verizon account).
  • Data App Calls: Calls made or received over the internet using apps like FaceTime Audio, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Skype, etc., do not appear in your Verizon cellular call log. They are treated as data usage.
  • Unanswered/Failed Calls: The logs primarily track connected calls. Missed calls or calls that failed to connect may not appear reliably in the My Verizon usage details.
  • iMessages: Texts sent via Apple’s iMessage are not included in Verizon’s SMS/MMS text logs.

Access Permissions & History Limits

  • Account Roles: On multi-line accounts, the Account Owner and designated Account Managers can typically view the verizon call log for all lines. Account Members can usually only access the logs for their own specific line.
  • Time Limits: Remember the general limits: detailed online logs often go back about 90 days, while PDF bills provide history for 18+ months.

Downloading Your Log

The most reliable way to download and save your call history is by accessing and saving the PDF bill statements from the My Verizon website.
